self improvement guide
How does Wicca work? I need some clarification:?

1.) I’ve read that many Wiccans believe in reincarnation for the purpose of self improvement. How can one improve if there is no recollection of the previous life?
2.) What are discarnate guides?
3.) Does it recognize spirits as among us and, if so, can it open darker realms or become dangerous?
4.) Do Wiccans traditionally preach in different locations to convert people of different faiths (missionaries)?
5.) What exactly is the God-ess?
6.) How do you worship these deities?
7.) How does meditation differ from prayer, and what is its role in worship?
8.) What is the purpose of the athame?

I apologize if these questions sound ignorant, I truly seek information and not a debate. I’m not a Christian or of any particular faith, so please don’t think I’m being derogatory.

1. Those who believe in reincarnation generally believe one remembers past lives between lives. They pick a lesson to learn while they have the knowledge and incorporate it after their life…in the Summerland. But many of us think that focusing on an afterlife that may or may not exist while we have a real life in front of us is silly.

2. New Age Nonsense that traditionally has nothing to do with Wicca.

3. “Spirits among us”? Like what? Wicca isn’t dangerous, period, although I suppose a Wiccan could set his/her robe on fire with a candle, or get a papercut from a book.

4. No, that would be against our faith. Our gods have no trouble finding those who they wish to have as worshippers.

5. A misspelling of goddess? Our gods are gods, nothing more and nothing less. Traditionally, our gods are gods, not aspects, archetypes or whatever else people invent to justify their beliefs to atheists or monotheists.

6. The same way other people worship their gods- following their rules, listening to their voices and seeking communion with them through recognition of liturgical calendars and associated rites.

7. Meditation isn’t a part of worship, it is a way for a person, of any faith, or no faith at all, to find inner peace. It is documented to lower blood pressure and ease stress.

8. It depends on how it is being used. It can represent masculine energy in a ritual, be used as a symbol or to direct individual energies, however you conceive of them. It’s not something apparent to an outsider, as one needs to understand the requisite liturgy to understand its use therein.

5 step guide to self improvement.
